Inventory Management System for a Furniture Business

The problem
Stock records were hard to keep accurate. Furniture comes in many items, variants and locations, and tracking them by hand made it difficult to know what was actually available or when to reorder.
Our approach
We designed the system around the way stock actually moves through the business, from items coming in to items going out, so the numbers in the system match what is on the floor.
What we did
- Built a central product and stock register covering items and variants
- Recorded stock coming in and going out so levels stay up to date
- Added low-stock alerts so reordering can happen before items run out
- Provided reports on current stock and stock movement
Outcome
- The team works from one shared view of stock instead of separate records
- Stock levels are updated as items move, so counts are easier to trust
- Low-stock warnings help avoid running out of popular items
